American entertaining TV shows

Rate this Entry

It's been for half a year that I've been watching the TV shows from the competitions called "America's got talent", "So you think you can dance" and "American idol".

What all these programs have in common is that you won't get bored due to their lively entertaining atmosphere along with articulate judges. Sometimes the conversations between the contestants and referees freeze you for a while that you hold still your cup of drink half way between your chest and your mouth, precisely, close enough to your lips so that you feel the heat and smell of it.

What I'm trying to comment over the shows is not the way that they can lead you to a couch potato, but to talk about the conversations and overreactions from many candidates acting through the whole program. For the "SUTUCD" and "AGT", I don't see any abnormality over the exultation concomitant with wet eyes and shouting hooray, but the pathetic way of some contestants in "American idol" begging the judges to let them go through the next level is a degrading approach which makes you as an onlooker feel shameful!

I believe if one is good enough and gifted with skill and self-confidence and above all, expecting the judges assess them technically not emotionally, they should not throw themselves on the judges' mercy and let the real scores and judgments drag them into the next step.

The point is that, even if the judges let any candidate pass through under the spell of contestants' beauty, tears, and … etc, they would most probably fail in the semi-final and definitely in the final stage.

It goes without saying that, at the same time, some manage to keep a cool head and jump on their feet in a fashionable manner not being considered hysterical.

I watched one episode of "So you think you can dance" with one of my intimate friends. Though this friend of mine could not understand a word of this show, seemed amused more than those participators! I can start criticizing the programs on IRIB but that will involve criticisms to those I do not like and at the moment I prefer not to bother my mind thinking about them

This bosom friend of yours must have the knowledge of another language rather than English. Right? Otherwise, it's not that much tough to understand. I get 90% of the dialogues or the whole situation and sometimes more or less, but taking the philosophy of looking at the half full of the glass into account, I don't care about the 10%.

Oh, IRIB, - specially these days – is a lost cause!

This friend of mine, as most of the people in this society, knows no English and is not familiar with any foriegn language enough.

Hey pal! IRIB!!! is something else. (I never thought this emoticon be of any use but here is one of the best places)

Sure it is! It's something outta this world in reverse order. I believe the canards in covering stories and bending the truth is a blatant insult to the intelligence & awareness of their audience!
Ironically we all know this fact, however we keep watching! I don't mind to boycott on watching it, but when you are with family with TV on, you can't be isolated from others, though I usually play with my cell-phone checking words and idioms.
When I was single [ before 1385], the only channels I would watch were: English news at 23:00, channel 4 documentaries and science and cultural news.
